At some point in recent history, having a go-to barber was something like a tradition. A place where your name was known, your style was appreciated and developed and you knew exactly what you were getting.

Finding the right barber starts with finding the right barbershop. A good barbershop won’t just employ anyone and their scissor, they’ll look for the best. References, experience, passion and talent will all be taken into account.

7 Things to Consider When Choosing a Barbershop

How to Find a Good Barber/shop

  1. Ask around. Word of mouth and recommendation is the number one reason many people choose a brand of any description. Talking to friends, family and peers can help direct you find the chosen land. s
  2. Look online. Reviewing a business has never been easier, and boy do people like to review. Be sure when checking reviews to look at a range of the good, the bad and the ugly. We proudly have over 16000+ 5-star reviews across Chaps Branches.
  3. How well-groomed are the barbers? If you went to a butcher’s house for dinner, you’d expect the best cuts of meat, right? If you walk into a barbershop you’d like to see well groomed, well dressed barbers ready to take on your requests.
  4. Is the shop well presented and clean? A barbershop should be a place where hygiene is held to a high standard. If the shop isn’t clean, swept and shining, this might not be the one for you. Some hair on the floor around a client under construction is acceptable, but several different types of hair under the chair should really be a sign that care isn’t being taken.
  5. Is it busy? A busy barber is undoubtedly busy for a reason. It is unlikely anything to do with them being slow and for the busiest and best prepared barbers, this would usually lead to an appointment book. So just because the waiting area is empty, doesn’t necessarily mean they are no good.
  6. Does the barber provide a consultation at the beginning of your service? When you hop into the chair, does the barber ask enough questions, does he listen?? The more information they take on board, the more likely you are to end up with the look you wanted.
  7. Does the barber check in, as he cuts? Again, as your hair is being cut, a good barber will ask questions to ensure they are going in the right direction. Examples of this would be “do you want a little more off there?” or “how is the length at the back?"
