Jake Paul took the boxing world by storm in 2020, winning his first six fights in the ring.

In February, Jake – a regular Chaps and Co client – dropped into our Riyadh branch ahead of his highly anticipated fight with Tommy Fury.

A win in Saudi Arabia would’ve seen him receive an official WBC cruiserweight ranking, but it wasn’t to be on the night as Fury narrowly took the win by a split decision.

As rumours fly around about a potential rematch or who Jake’s next opponent could be, we take a look back at where it all began.

Paul’s rise to fame

The 26-year-old made a name for himself on social media platform Vine, posting his first video in September 2013. He gathered over five million followers and amassed two billion views. Jake’s increasing popularity saw him set up a YouTube channel which has over 20 million subscribers to this day.

Jake began to make money through sponsors on his channel as well as the millions of viewers on his videos which focused on daily vlogs and pranks. This saw him join the cast of Disney Channel’s Bizaardvark in 2015 – a comedy show starring alongside the likes of Olivia Rodrigo.

Music career

In 2016, Jake set up a social media label called Team 10, an influencer management agency for some of YouTube’s most promising talents who would live with him in California.

In the summer of 2017, he ventured into the music industry when he released the first of several singles ‘It’s everyday bro’ which featured Team 10. The song has been viewed over 295 million times on YouTube.

Jake published a selection of songs throughout 2018, most noticeably ‘Champion’, a diss track towards soon to be boxing opponent Deji Olatunji – fellow YouTuber and the younger brother of KSI.

Boxing Bouts

Jake won his first six fights in the ring, beating Deji in his first fight in comfortable fashion, when his team threw in the towel in the fifth round.

Up next was AnEsonGib, Jake’s first professional boxing fight followed by professional basketball player Nate Robinson who would both face similar fates.

In 2021, Jake beat Welterweight Champion Ben Askren in the same way he beat Gib, via TKO.

The fourth fight is when things got a little trickier. Jake took on UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley. It was a fight then went all the way, but Paul came out on top via a split decision and went on to knock him out in their rematch four months later.

The penultimate fight was against former UFC Champion Anderson Silva. In a closely fought encounter, Paul won by a unanimous decision.

Next up was Fury. The 26-year-old knocked Fury down in the eighth round but it wasn’t enough to claim victory with one judge scoring 75–74 in his favour, but the other two scoring 76-73 to Fury.
