Our big plans for 2020 were shelved, and remained shelved until the first half of 2021 was through. A year on since the post lockdown nightmare began, and uncertainty remains a part of our weekly team meeting agenda.

In Dubai, we have seen some of our branches start to really light up, like the Dubai Design District (d3) and the Lakes The home of Chaps Neighbourhood at Reform Gastropub.

Other branches are beginning to show signs of normality as people slowly return to the nearby offices.

We are among the businesses that have been obsessively tracking coronavirus case numbers and traffic. It seems we’re fortunate enough to be insulated from some of the shocks of the past year. This, in part due to our best-in-class hygiene standards and comforting customer experience.

A huge thank you to our entire #ChapsTeam for their commitment and resilience in that department.

The recovery has provided the reassurance we needed to revisit our expansion plans. We now join many other businesses in playing catch up for the next couple of years, at least.

Our current 6 branches in the UAE will have 2 more by the year’s end. The first inside Bloomingdales department store at The Dubai Mall and the second Chaps Neighbourhood at the newly renovated Jumeirah Islands Clubhouse. Though exact dates are TBD, we’re super excited to grow once again in Dubai this year.

International expansion has long been our vision for Chaps. Our maiden branch in Saudi Arabia was to be first, until the pandemic put a complete stop to the progress. Despite current border/ travel restrictions we are making moves to be open in Riyadh in September.

The (almost complete) project is a 2 story, all singing, all dancing, 5 chair barbershop with a Private Barber Room and Mani-Pedi service areas on the second floor. It’s a real cracker!

Another ‘Thank you’ for the enquiries, checking in on us and of support; I can promise it will be worth the wait.

What the Rest of 2021 Will Look Like for Chaps & Co

Last but not least, Chaps NYC. A story with many chapters, but before I lose your attention, I can tell you this one is at the very final stages before opening. Finalising paperwork is my top priority before we start doing what we do best, in the city that never sleeps. Bar another disaster we will be open in October.
